BAPTISM AT CROSSPOINT CHURCH
Baptism does not put us in a special position with God, it shows that we identify with the position that Jesus has already won for us.
Baptism is an ordinance, a command that Jesus gave to His church, to represent initiation into the family of God. When a believer goes under and back out of the water in baptism, they publicly show their faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior. This act of obedience also paints a picture of a believer’s death to sin, the burial of their old life, and their resurrection to walk in the newness of life found in Jesus Christ alone. Baptism testifies to our belief in the final resurrection of the dead.
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19–20)
